Britain’s Got Talent Faces Backlash Over Lack of Female Contestants on International Women’s Day

Must read

Britain’s Got Talent has sparked controversy among viewers after the latest episode failed to feature any female contestants despite airing on International Women’s Day. The third round of auditions, which aired on March 8, drew sharp criticism from fans who accused the show of overlooking the occasion and displaying a lack of gender representation.

Viewers quickly took to social media to express their disappointment, noting that every act showcased during the 80-minute episode was male. One outraged fan commented, “Actually awful that on International Women’s Day all the acts tonight so far have been men, sexist #BGT!!” Another added, “This week’s episode of Britain’s Got Talent just ended… and there was not a single female act.”

Many referenced last year’s historic win by Sydnie Christmas, who became the first solo female contestant to win the competition in 17 years. The absence of women in the latest episode only intensified concerns over the show’s representation of female talent.

In addition to the gender controversy, Saturday night’s episode saw judge Simon Cowell experience a terrifying moment when he was unexpectedly called on stage to participate in a sledgehammer act. Cowell, along with fellow judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli, returned for the new series last month, with YouTube star KSI also making an appearance as a guest judge in Blackpool.
