A former reality TV star who appeared on Channel 4’s Bodyshockers has been found guilty of grievous bodily harm and two counts of actual bodily harm after a prolonged campaign of domestic abuse against his ex-girlfriend.
Jack Woodman, 33, was convicted at Bristol Crown Court after the jury heard disturbing details of his violent behavior, including breaking his former partner’s jaw, pulling out clumps of her hair, and threatening to burn her with hair straighteners. His sentencing has been adjourned to a later date, but Judge Leslie Blohm KC has warned Woodman that a prison sentence is likely. “I’m giving you conditional bail, but the likelihood is that you face a custodial sentence,” the judge stated.
Woodman’s former partner, Crystal Taffs, 29, endured years of abuse before escaping with their two children in 2022. Her family has spoken out following the verdict. Her stepfather, Dave Priddle, described the ruling as a significant victory for victims of domestic abuse. “This is a victory not only for my stepdaughter but for all women who have to suffer domestic violence, control, and coercive behavior. Woodman made Crystal’s life a living nightmare until she finally snapped and ran away from him.”
During the trial, prosecutors detailed multiple instances of abuse. On Father’s Day 2022, Woodman allegedly punched Taffs after losing a significant amount of money at a casino. Another attack reportedly took place at Woodman’s pawnshop, where he struck her after being dissatisfied with how she cleaned the store’s televisions.
“I was facing him, and he punched me in the right side of the face—it was agony,” Taffs recalled in court. “I told him I thought he had knocked my teeth out, and he said, ‘If you don’t shut up, I’ll make sure I knock the other teeth out.’”
Fearing further violence, she avoided seeking medical help immediately. “I physically couldn’t eat because of the pain, so I went to A&E, but the wait was too long. I knew Jack would be home soon, so I left. The next day, x-rays confirmed my jaw was broken.”
Taffs also testified about another incident during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend when Woodman allegedly pulled out a clump of her hair, leaving her with a bald patch. “I was really upset and started to cry when I looked in the mirror,” she said.
Woodman, who had ambitions of fame, is now facing the consequences of his actions. As Priddle put it, “All he ever cared about was himself and his relentless pursuit of being famous. Woodman has now got what he always craved—but that fame has come at a massive price.”
