TV presenter Davina McCall has shared uplifting news with fans, revealing that she has been given the all-clear following successful brain surgery. The 57-year-old mother of three announced the update in a heartfelt video alongside her partner, Michael Douglas, beaming with joy in the spring sunshine.
Davina underwent surgery in November to remove a colloid cyst from her brain—an unexpected discovery made during a routine health scan. In the video, she shared before-and-after images from her MRI scans, proudly showing that the tumour had been completely removed.
“We thought we’d post a final brain operation update,” she said, smiling. Michael chimed in with excitement, saying: “It’s good news.” Davina added, “Last week I had my final MRI. I was a bit nervous because if any part of it was left, it would grow back, and I’d have to go through the whole thing again—which I was mentally prepared for. But the scan was clear.”
The Masked Singer judge expressed her gratitude to the medical team, saying, “I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who looked after me so well. A heartfelt thank you to Kevin—from both of us.”
Reflecting on the experience, she acknowledged her good fortune while recognizing the struggles of others. “I’m so, so grateful, particularly because I know a lot of people have inoperable tumours. I’m lucky to draw a line under this and move on with my life when so many people can’t. And just one more time: benign does not mean fine.”
Davina discovered the cyst by chance after receiving a free health scan following a talk on the menopause. Although the cyst was benign, doctors warned it could—on rare occasions—lead to sudden death if left untreated. This made the decision to proceed with surgery a complex one.
She described feeling that the tumour had “taken hold” of her, causing daily anxiety and fear. In a symbolic gesture of acceptance, she nicknamed the cyst “Jeffrey” and even threw parties in its honor as a way of staying positive and minimizing fear.
Speaking candidly on her podcast Begin Again, Davina said the experience taught her resilience and gave her a deeper understanding of herself.
