Harry Potter Stars Banned from Driving After Multiple Speeding Offenses

Must read

In a surprising turn of events, two Harry Potter stars have been banned from driving on the same day. Emma Watson and Zoe Wanamaker, both famous for their roles in the beloved franchise, lost their licenses due to excessive speeding violations.

First, Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger, received a six-month driving ban. The 35-year-old actress already had nine penalty points before her latest offense. Last July, she was caught driving 38 mph in a 30 mph zone. Consequently, the court fined her £1,000 and disqualified her.

Meanwhile, Zoe Wanamaker, known as Madam Hooch in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, faced the same fate. The 77-year-old actress accumulated 12 penalty points after four speeding tickets in just 11 months. Notably, one violation involved her driving 46 mph in a 40 mph zone on the M4.

Interestingly, Watson’s Audi S3 was once towed by police due to her violations. On the other hand, Wanamaker’s lawyer stressed that she requested no special treatment during her hearing. Regardless, both stars must surrender their licenses until early 2026.

Court documents revealed that Watson narrowly avoided a ban last year. However, her latest offense left magistrates with no choice. Similarly, Wanamaker’s repeated disregard for speed limits forced the court’s hand.

Now that these Harry Potter stars are banned from driving, fans wonder how they’ll manage. Watson, worth £60 million, can easily hire chauffeurs. Meanwhile, Wanamaker, famous for My Family and Doctor Who, may turn to public transport.

This case highlights that even celebrities face consequences for breaking traffic laws. Neither Watson nor Wanamaker received leniency despite their fame. Their no special treatment approach shows the law applies equally to all.
