Katie Price has shared an emotional account of her son Harvey’s struggle as he returned to his residential college after a two-week break at home.
The former glamour model, 46, revealed that Harvey, 22, was devastated when it was time to leave, even attempting to “kick the car door in” and lashing out at his carer. Harvey, who lives with Prader-Willi syndrome, autism, and partial blindness, spends much of his time at a specialist residential facility for individuals with additional needs.
Speaking on her podcast, Katie described the heartbreaking scene:
“When I took him back to college, Soph, it broke my heart. He just so didn’t want to go. As we were getting near, he was saying, ‘Mum, Harvey’s so sad. I’m so angry.’ I’m like, ‘Why Harv?’ — although I knew why.”
She added:
“He said, ‘College, I miss Mummy. Mummy’s the best.’ I thought I’d have no car left — he was trying to kick the car door backwards.”
Katie also shared that Harvey told his college staff he would be leaving in a week and not returning, which led to a concerned call from the college to confirm if that was true. Katie clarified:
“No, he’s pulling the strings on you.”
Harvey is currently enrolled in a £350,000-a-year residential college located three hours from Katie’s home in Horsham, West Sussex. Katie has expressed her intention to eventually move him to a college closer to home to make the transition easier for him.
