Homes England has launched a Strategic Place Partnership to advance Housing Regeneration across the East Midlands region. Moreover, this initiative marks the agency’s tenth formal partnership with Mayoral Strategic Authorities in England. Through this new framework, Homes England works closely with local leaders to align development with community priorities. Consequently, Housing Regeneration supports projects that deliver long-term value for local residents and businesses.
In Nottingham, Homes England collaborates with the East Midlands Combined County Authority to reshape the Broad Marsh site. The agency purchased the former shopping centre in March and immediately began reducing development risks. As a result, the area now attracts increased private investment interest. Plans outline roughly 1,000 new homes, 20,000 square metres of retail, office and community space, and around 2,000 new jobs. Additionally, the partnership blends national resources with local knowledge to strengthen Nottingham’s future growth. Housing Regeneration therefore plays a central role in transforming the wider city centre.
Meanwhile, in Derbyshire, Homes England and EMCCA continue advancing Infinity Garden Village within the Garden Communities programme. The project includes 4,530 homes, a secondary school for 1,500 pupils and 3.45 million square feet of mixed-use employment space. Furthermore, the plan links housing with education and workplace opportunities to support sustainable community life. This approach demonstrates how strategic regional partnerships create balanced growth across multiple sectors.
Homes England Chief Executive Amy Rees highlighted the significance of the new partnership. She noted that formal collaboration with EMCCA creates a clear structure for unlocking sustainable regional development. In addition, she emphasised that progress at Broad Marsh shows how national support combined with local insight drives successful outcomes. Rees reiterated that Housing Regeneration thrives when organisations share resources and expertise.
Across England, Homes England now maintains ten Strategic Place Partnerships that empower mayors to shape development at scale. Moreover, the agency provides leaders with tools to improve neighbourhoods more efficiently. Through continuous cooperation, Housing Regeneration projects will deliver thousands of new homes, expand employment opportunities and enhance infrastructure throughout the East Midlands.
