Celebrity challenge chaos is set to hit I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here this Wednesday. Contestants will face a shocking all-you-can-eat eating challenge. Producers released a teaser trailer revealing a bizarre “bug cake” prepared for the campmates.
A behind-the-scenes camera captured a chef decorating the cake, which looked like classic white sponge. However, it contained Surströmming, a famously pungent Swedish herring. The chef explained, “We’re using tofu and mash for the icing,” as she spread the mixture over the sponge.
She added, “We’re topping it up with some bugs and a little sprinkles for that extra touch.” The chef admitted the dish “smells bad” and noted flies were swarming around it. She predicted that the celebrities would likely vomit when they tasted the creation, warning, “There is so, so much food and it’s all disgusting… I hope you guys are ready.”
Preview images released by producers show Neighbours star Rebekah Elmaloglou struggling through the challenge. Contestants will also face bull’s testicles and “brain pies” during the mid-week episode. Meanwhile, Channel Ten confirmed an elimination will occur on Wednesday.
Cyrell learned the news via the camp’s bone phone and told her fellow contestants. She shouted, “No, no, it’s really bad.” Matt Zukowski responded, “Now I don’t want to go. I feel like I really want to be here till the end.”
The intense challenge follows Deni Hines’ dramatic exit on Tuesday. She left after complaining about constipation caused by the camp diet of rice and beans. She told her co-stars, “I wanna go home. If our team gets rice and beans tonight, I’m going home!”
Deni listed multiple toilet-related reasons for leaving, adding, “I refuse to sit on that long drop more than five minutes. I want a real toilet.” Her departure left the campmates deflated. Few tried to persuade her to stay, as she had not bonded well with others in the South African jungle.
Tensions had risen earlier when Deni clashed with comedian Nath Valvo. After criticizing Triple J star Concetta Caristo, she confronted Nath, saying, “You’re lazy as f***.” Nath replied, “Can you not say that, Den, because I’ve been offering to help out.”
