TV presenter Jeff Brazier has reportedly begun legal proceedings in a bid to block his 20-year-old son, Freddy Brazier, from having contact with his maternal grandmother, Jackiey Budden—the mother of the late Jade Goody.
According to reports, the Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins star and former This Morning host is seeking to limit Freddy’s interactions with Jackiey due to concerns over the young model’s wellbeing. The decision follows years of alleged tension between father and son, including what has been described as a “secret feud” and multiple heated arguments resulting in Freddy leaving the family home to stay at his grandmother’s southeast London flat.
During his appearance on Celebrity Race Across The World, Jeff acknowledged a growing distance between them, admitting, “Fred isn’t at home loads,” and suggesting their relationship had become strained.
Now, it is claimed that Jeff, 45, has hired a barrister and initiated legal action in an effort to protect his son. A source close to the family said:
“This is something Jeff and anyone who cares about Freddy hopes will help keep him safe from a relationship that has been incredibly detrimental to his wellbeing for a long time now.”
The insider continued:
“The fact that Jeff is going down this route shows how concerned we all are, and how our efforts to keep Fred safe are being grossly undermined by other people.”
Freddy is the younger of Jeff’s two sons with Jade Goody, who passed away from cervical cancer in 2009. Since her death, Jeff has been the boys’ primary guardian and has often spoken about the challenges of raising them as a single father.
The matter is expected to be addressed in an upcoming legal hearing.
