Singer Jesy Nelson has shared an emotional update about complications in her pregnancy, revealing that she is at risk of losing one or both of her unborn twins due to a rare medical condition.
In a tearful video alongside her partner, Zion Foster, Jesy opened up about her challenging journey, explaining that her twins have a condition known as Mono/Di twins—short for Monochorionic Diamniotic (MCDA). This means the babies share a single placenta but have separate amniotic sacs, which can lead to serious complications.
Jesy explained: “Most twins have two placentas to feed off, but with Mono/Di twins, they rely on just one, which can cause issues. One baby might take more nutrients than the other, which could sadly lead to both babies not making it. Right now, I’m in pre-stage TTTS (Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome) and being monitored very closely.”
According to medical experts, TTTS occurs when blood flow between the twins becomes unbalanced, leading to potential risks for both babies. Jesy, who is undergoing scans twice a week, admitted that her condition has slightly worsened with each visit but remains hopeful.
Despite the challenges, Jesy expressed gratitude for her pregnancy, saying: “We feel so blessed to be having twins, but we had no idea about the complications that can come with it. Every time we go for a scan, we just have to pray that everything is okay.”
The former Little Mix star and her partner Zion have been open about their journey, hoping to raise awareness about the condition and support others facing similar experiences. Jesy, who announced her pregnancy in January, has also spoken about the severe morning sickness she has endured, describing it as “constant vomiting 24/7.”
Jesy and Zion’s relationship has been in the spotlight since they went public in early 2023. The couple had previously dated for over a year before briefly parting ways in August, only to reunite months later, confirming their relationship with a heartfelt pregnancy announcement.
Reflecting on the moment she found out she was expecting twins, Jesy admitted she was “very shocked” but “instantly happy” at the unexpected news.
As she continues to navigate this difficult chapter, Jesy remains focused on staying positive, closely monitoring her babies’ health, and hoping for the best outcome.
