Six months after the tragic death of Liam Payne at age 31, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy has spoken publicly about their emotional final moments together. Payne, a former member of One Direction, died after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina on October 16, 2024. Cassidy, who had been staying with him during the trip, had returned to the U.S. just before the incident.
Speaking on the Jay Shetty Podcast, Cassidy shared the haunting details of their last conversation. “I remember sitting there with him, telling him how much I love him,” she said. “He laughed and interrupted me, saying, ‘Kate, you’re going to miss your flight, your car is in the driveway, you’re acting like this is the last time you’re ever going to see me again.’”
Cassidy recalled laughing and brushing it off, unaware it would be their final goodbye. “To look back now and know that really was the last time—it’s chilling,” she said. “But I’m so blessed it was such a heartfelt moment. Our last goodbye, I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any different.”
Reflecting on the sudden loss, she added, “It was so hard to process. We thought we had so much time. It was just taken away.” Through tears, she admitted, “I was supposed to be trying on my wedding dress… I wasn’t supposed to be wearing a black dress.”
