London’s Iconic Inter-Livery Pancake Race Returns for 2025

Must read

One of the most visually spectacular events of Shrove Tuesday, the Inter-Livery Pancake Race, is set to take place once again in Guildhall Yard on March 4, 2025. This historic and lively event brings together London’s livery companies for a day of friendly competition, tradition, and, of course, plenty of pancakes.

The race is organised by the Poulters, with several other livery companies playing key roles in the event. The Gunmakers will provide and fire the starting gun, the Clockmakers will ensure precise timing, and the Fruiterers will supply fresh lemons for the pancakes served throughout the day.

This year, the Fuellers have entered a full team and will be competing in all four race categories. Team members will arrive and begin warming up from 11:15 AM, with Pancake Captain Paul Mott leading the final briefing before the races officially begin at 12:00 PM.

Spectators are encouraged to come along and cheer on the competitors as they dash around Guildhall Yard while flipping their pancakes in mid-air. Entry is free, and supporters can attend for as long as they wish.

Following the thrilling races, attendees will have the chance to enjoy a hot buffet lunch in the historic Crypt at Guildhall, making for a fitting end to the day’s festivities.

This cherished event celebrates tradition, community spirit, and a touch of lighthearted competition among London’s historic livery companies.
