Mumford & Sons Release Prizefighter Album

Must read

Mumford & Sons have announced their sixth album, Prizefighter, marking a prolific creative period for the band. This new release comes only seven months after their comeback album, RUSHMERE, debuted in March 2025.

The band co-wrote and co-produced Prizefighter alongside Aaron Dessner of The National, who previously collaborated with them on Wilder Mind. In just ten days, Mumford & Sons wrote more than an album’s worth of material. The resulting record feels personal, instinctive, and communally expressive.

During the recording process, Mumford & Sons welcomed a range of collaborators into the studio. These included Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Chris Stapleton, Gigi Perez, and Dessner himself. The band embraced the opportunity to blend diverse creative influences while maintaining their signature sound.

Marcus Mumford reflected on the album, saying, “We feel like we’re hitting our prime as a creative force. We’re putting everything we have into this now, and we’re using all our experience to embrace who we are. Prizefighter is us going for it—serious and playful, sometimes bruised and always hopeful.”

He added that the band feels more energized than ever. “I’m more excited to be in this band than I’ve ever been. I hope and believe we’re at the start of something we don’t want to stop,” Mumford said.

Following the album release, Mumford & Sons will tour the UK and Europe with 22 dates. The tour concludes with two hometown shows at London’s O2 Arena. Fans can expect live performances of both Prizefighter and their previous hits.

The tracklist for Prizefighter includes standout collaborations such as Here with Chris Stapleton, Rubber Band Man with Hozier, and Icarus with Gigi Perez. Additional tracks include The Banjo Song, Run Together, Conversation With My Son, Alleycat, Prizefighter, Begin Again, Stay, Badlands with Gracie Abrams, Shadow Of A Man, I’ll Tell You Everything, and Clover.

Mumford & Sons continue to explore new musical directions while remaining true to their folk-rock roots. The band’s ability to combine experimentation with accessibility has made them a lasting presence in the music world.

With Prizefighter, Mumford & Sons showcase a confident, dynamic approach to songwriting. The album balances reflective lyricism with energetic instrumentation, offering listeners a deeply engaging and hopeful experience.

This release confirms that Mumford & Sons remain committed to growth and creativity, solidifying their place as one of the UK’s most influential contemporary bands.
