Nadine Coyle Inspired to Live Life Fully After Loss of Bandmate Sarah Harding

Must read

Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle has opened up about how the tragic passing of her bandmate Sarah Harding has inspired her to embrace life with more joy and gratitude. Sarah, who passed away from breast cancer in 2021 at the age of 39, left a lasting impact on her fellow bandmates, particularly Nadine.

Now 39 and a mum-of-one, the Derry-born singer revealed that Sarah’s positive and vivacious spirit continues to influence her daily. “I just try to enjoy it, because Sarah really enjoyed life. She made the most of so many things,” Nadine shared. “That’s really important. You can worry about so much stuff that just becomes irrelevant. Hold the people close that you love and spend time having fun, as much as you can.”

Although Girls Aloud officially split in 2013, Nadine, alongside Cheryl (41), Nicola Roberts (39), and Kimberley Walsh (43), reunited last year for an emotional tour that paid heartfelt tribute to Sarah. Reflecting on the experience, Nadine described the shows as deeply moving. “You could totally feel her presence, like she was right there. But when we all stood together to sing I’ll Stand By You, it was very obvious that she wasn’t. It was devastating, every single night.”

Nadine also highlighted how much she enjoyed bringing their children together during the tour. “The whole set-up was more about them – they had everything. That was incredible,” she said, speaking about her 11-year-old daughter Anaíya and the other band members’ children.

Having joined Girls Aloud in 2002 at the age of 17, Nadine reflected on her early years in the spotlight. “I remember thinking I could get my parents to write a note saying I couldn’t do Top Of The Pops the next day because I was too tired and needed a day off,” she laughed. “But you quickly realise that’s not how it works.”

Despite the years gone by, Nadine says the bond between the bandmates remains strong. They keep in touch frequently via WhatsApp. “There’s one for work stuff, one more personal, one for nostalgia, one for costumes – there’s a few! So loud, so full of energy and opinions! But I love being part of a girlband, it’s a special feeling.”
