New Pride and Prejudice Series: Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden Spotted Filming in Derbyshire

Must read

The new Pride and Prejudice series is officially underway, and filming has already sparked excitement and debate among fans. Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden were seen in Derbyshire this week, shooting key scenes for the anticipated drama. Netflix will release the show next year, bringing Jane Austen’s timeless romance to life once again.

Emma Corrin plays Elizabeth Bennet, while Jack Lowden steps into the famous role of Mr Darcy. Both stars appeared immersed in character as cameras rolled across the windy Peak District. Lowden looked commanding in his tailored frock coat and riding boots, while Corrin wore an elegant silk gown with a floral jacket.

Observers noted how Lowden carried himself with Darcy’s signature arrogance. Corrin, however, balanced the energy with Elizabeth’s fiery independence. Their heated exchange during filming hinted at the famous tension that defines the story. Clearly, the new Pride and Prejudice series aims to capture the beloved conflict between wit and pride.

Transitioning to the wider cast, Netflix has assembled an impressive lineup. Olivia Colman portrays Mrs Bennet, and Rufus Sewell plays Mr Bennet. Freya Mavor takes on the role of Jane Bennet, while Daryl McCormack stars as Mr Bingley. Fans will also see Louis Partridge as Wickham, Jamie Demetriou as Mr Collins, and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourg. Two newcomers, Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery, debut as Mary and Kitty Bennet.

Despite the excitement, controversy surrounds the project. Netflix revealed first-look images online, but reactions divided viewers sharply. Some praised the modern retelling, while others criticized casting decisions. A number of fans even threatened to cancel subscriptions. This backlash echoes earlier disputes over Austen adaptations, especially after criticism of Netflix’s Persuasion.

Reports suggest one famous scene will not return. The memorable Colin Firth lake sequence from the 1995 version will not appear here. Producers wish to avoid repeating the moment, claiming they do not want to “objectify men.”

The creative team includes director Euros Lyn and writer Dolly Alderton, known for Heartstopper. Alderton expressed her passion for adapting Austen, calling the project a dream opportunity. She emphasized that the new Pride and Prejudice series balances familiar themes with fresh perspectives.

Filming continues across the UK and should wrap in late 2025. Until then, Austen fans will watch eagerly, waiting to see if this adaptation delivers romance worthy of the original novel.
