Newborn Child of MP Faces Vile Online Hate

Must read

A British Member of Parliament has reported shocking news. His newborn daughter received terrible online attacks. Moreover, this depraved online abuse began just hours after her birth. Adnan Hussain, the independent MP for Blackburn, spoke out. He described the comments as utterly vile and sexist. Consequently, he feels this event reveals a serious social problem.

Hussain recently became a father for the first time. He felt excited and happy about his new daughter. Therefore, he decided to share his joy on social media. He posted a pixelated picture of the baby on X. He took this step to protect her identity. Furthermore, he wanted to connect with his constituents. On Facebook, the post received only warm support. However, the response on X was drastically different.

Initially, many people on X sent kind messages. Soon afterwards, the tone changed dramatically. Racist and Islamophobic comments began to multiply. Some posters questioned Hussain’s British identity. Others said his daughter should be deported. Hussain found these comments unacceptable. Nevertheless, he said they did not surprise him. Then he checked the post again the next morning. His stomach dropped upon reading the new comments.

The new attacks were even more horrific. They focused on a gendered form of racism. Additionally, they contained intense Islamophobia. Hussain called these remarks utterly depraved. He stated they were warped and hateful. This was a level of depraved online abuse he never imagined. He immediately deleted the entire post from the platform.

Following the incident, Hussain explained his feelings. He said new parent naivety left him unprepared. Also, he would never have posted the picture otherwise. He hopes many hateful comments came from bots. However, he acknowledges a real person is always behind them. He also questions the motives of platform owners. He believes they allow this hatred to spread unchecked.

Hussain links this event to a wider UK issue. He says the national atmosphere is darkening. Moreover, he points to recent racial harassment cases. He also mentioned a terrible rape treated as racially motivated. He argues that hatred is festering unchecked. This situation has very real world consequences. The depraved online abuse his daughter suffered proves this point.

The MP is part of the Jeremy Corbyn-aligned Independent Alliance. This experience has left him personally bruised. However, it has also strengthened his resolve. He vows to fight back against racism and intolerance. He sees strong forces leading society into a dark abyss. Therefore, he believes an equally strong force must hit back. He says we must collectively say “enough” to this hate.
