Niamh Kavanagh Dancing Returns

Must read

Niamh Kavanagh dancing will take centre stage in the upcoming series of Dancing With The Stars. The Eurovision winner has confirmed she will be the first celebrity contestant for the show.

The series returns to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Sundays this January. Fans are already excited about her performances. Niamh admitted she feels nervous but mostly thrilled to step into the world of professional dance.

“I am beside myself but trying to act cool,” Niamh said. She acknowledged that performing publicly adds extra nerves, yet she is eager to give it her all.

Stepping into the glitz and glamour will challenge her. Niamh joked about her inexperience with sequins, fake tan, and even piercing her ears. She revealed that formal choreography is mostly new to her.

She briefly tried ballet at age 12 but struggled to fit in among younger classmates. Despite this, she loves performing and moving on stage, and her natural stage presence helps.

In pantomimes, she often played villainous roles. This allowed her to move with attitude while concealing her limited dance skills. Watching shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing With The Stars inspired her to finally join a series herself.

Niamh admitted she might fan-girl over Oti Mabuse and expressed excitement about working with judges Brian, Karen, and Arthur. She is ready to embrace the full experience, from choreography to sparkles and spray tan.

Niamh Kavanagh dancing first captured international attention when she won the Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland in 1993 with “In Your Eyes.” That song became Ireland’s best-selling single that year. She later returned to Eurovision in 2010, which further cemented her status as a music icon.

Away from performing, she co-hosts the podcast Agony Rants with comedian Gearóid Farrelly, who encouraged her to join the show. Niamh is married to musician Paul Megahey, and they have two sons, Tom and Jack. The family lives in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim.

This season will also feature changes to the presenting and judging line-up. Laura Fox will co-host alongside Jennifer Zamparelli, and Oti Mabuse will join as a new judge. Fans can expect fresh energy and exciting performances throughout the season.

Niamh Kavanagh dancing promises to be a highlight of the 2026 series. Her natural talent, combined with determination, ensures audiences will see her grow and shine on stage.
