MUNICH – UK National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell held a series of significant meetings at the Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2025, focusing on regional security and international cooperation.
On February 15, 2025, Powell met with President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani. Their discussions centered on enhancing security cooperation between the UK, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, with a particular emphasis on coordinating counterterrorism efforts against ISIS threats. Powell commended the Kurdistan Region for its vital role in maintaining security and stability in the area.
