Princess Beatrice Highlights Urgent Premature Birth Research

Must read

Princess Beatrice is using her public profile to promote Premature Birth Awareness amid personal and family challenges.

The 37-year-old royal has focused on raising awareness for the charity Borne following her daughter Athena’s early arrival. She described supporting the cause as “incredibly close and personal.”

Her daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose, was born several weeks early on January 22. Consequently, Beatrice has dedicated herself to helping parents and children affected by early births.

Globally, 15 million babies are born prematurely each year, and complications remain the leading cause of newborn deaths. However, only 2% of medical research funding goes toward pregnancy and childbirth, according to Borne.

Beatrice hosted an event at London’s Battersea Power Station ahead of World Prematurity Day on November 17. Attendees included families, researchers, and charity supporters. Moreover, she will feature in a Borne podcast alongside Laura Tobin and Borne founder Professor Mark Johnson.

Earlier this week, Beatrice and Tobin visited the charity’s research labs at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. David Badcock, Borne’s chief executive, said her support raises awareness of the urgent need for more research. He added that prematurity has been underfunded and underexplored for too long.

Despite her father Andrew Mountbatten Windsor facing scrutiny, Beatrice has maintained her royal duties and continued charitable work. Her parents were stripped of titles following Andrew’s links to Epstein. Nevertheless, Beatrice and her sister Eugenie retain their royal status.

Beatrice’s advocacy demonstrates her commitment to children’s health while showing resilience under personal and family pressure. She said, “The work that Borne is undertaking is incredibly important, and I hope it helps thousands of parents and children.”

The charity’s slogan, “Every week counts,” emphasizes the significance of carrying a baby to full term. Beatrice’s efforts highlight the ongoing challenges faced by premature babies and the urgent need for further research.

Through public appearances, lab visits, and podcast initiatives, Beatrice is using her platform to shine a spotlight on Premature Birth Awareness. Her dedication underscores her focus on meaningful change despite family controversies.
