Reform UK Lawyer Denies Statements Attributed by MP Rupert Lowe

A senior lawyer assigned by Reform UK to conduct an independent investigation into allegations against MP Rupert Lowe and his team has refuted claims that she made certain remarks attributed to her by Lowe.

Lowe, the MP for Great Yarmouth, was suspended from Reform UK and reported to the police over allegations that he issued threats of violence against the party’s chairman—claims he vehemently denies. The Metropolitan Police has confirmed it is reviewing allegations of “verbal threats.” Additionally, accusations of workplace bullying in Lowe’s office are under investigation by the lawyer appointed by the party.

Lowe has rejected all allegations, arguing that “no credible evidence” exists against him and alleging that he is the target of a “political assassination” for challenging Nigel Farage.

As a consequence of the dispute, Reform UK withdrew the party whip from Lowe, rendering him an independent MP. His suspension followed a Daily Mail interview in which he characterized Reform UK under Farage’s leadership as a “protest party led by the Messiah.”

The lawyer, a King’s Counsel (KC) whose credentials have been confirmed by the BBC but remains unnamed by the party, issued a statement dismissing the comments Lowe claimed she made. “I have come across various statements from Mr. Lowe MP that have been attributed to me, describing my views on the party’s handling of the allegations against both Mr. Lowe MP and his constituency manager,” she stated.

She further clarified, “I regretfully find myself in a position where I must correct the record. I have never expressed ‘dismay’ or ‘shock’ regarding the process. Nor have I stated that ‘there is zero credible evidence against [Mr. Lowe]’—let alone made such a claim repeatedly.”

On Friday, Lowe also pushed back against a statement from Reform UK that announced an independent investigation into the allegations.
