Strictly Presenter Change: Dermot O’Leary Rules Himself Out

Must read

Strictly Presenter Change has sparked debate since Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced their departure.

The duo confirmed last month that they will leave the BBC series at the end of the current season. Fans immediately speculated about potential replacements, frequently mentioning Holly Willoughby and Alan Carr.

However, Dermot O’Leary confirmed he will not step into their shoes. He addressed the rumours during Ireland’s The Six O’Clock Show. Hosts Brian Dowling and Katja Mia asked him to “confirm or deny” whether the BBC had contacted him.

O’Leary replied with a firm “Deny,” referencing his past experience on X Factor with humour. He joked that Simon Cowell would not allow him to present Strictly, even if the show returned.

Dowling added levity by recalling O’Leary’s Big Brother and Ultimate Big Brother history. Daly and Winkleman described their decision to leave as “difficult” but the right moment for both.

They expressed that hosting Strictly together had been “an absolute dream.” The pair thanked the BBC and production team, calling them “the most brilliant team” they had worked with.

Fans will see Daly and Winkleman finish the current series with energy and enthusiasm. Daly has presented Strictly since 2004, originally alongside Bruce Forsyth until 2013.

Winkleman hosted the spin-off It Takes Two from 2004 to 2010 before joining the main results show. After Forsyth’s departure, Winkleman moved to the main series alongside Daly in 2014, creating one of TV’s most loved duos.

Despite O’Leary’s refusal, rumours continue to swirl about who will replace the pair. It has not yet announced the replacements, keeping fans eager for the next season.

Strictly Presenter Change has generated excitement among viewers, curious to see how the new hosts will shape the show. Meanwhile, Daly and Winkleman will complete the season with their signature style and chemistry.
