Jack Fincham Avoids Jail After Appeal in Dog Attack Case

Must read

Reality TV star Jack Fincham has avoided immediate jail time after successfully appealing a six-week prison sentence for being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog. The Love Island winner, 32, had previously admitted two charges following separate incidents involving his black cane corso, Elvis, in 2022 and 2023.

The court heard that in September 2022, Fincham’s dog bit a jogger in Kent, and again in June 2023, Elvis attacked a woman in Essex. Both incidents led to serious concerns over Fincham’s handling of the animal.

Appearing at Basildon Crown Court, Fincham was seen arriving solemnly dressed in a white T-shirt, cardigan, and brown overcoat. However, he gave a thumbs-up to cameras after learning he would not serve prison time. Instead, his sentence was replaced with a three-month extension to his existing 18-month suspended sentence for a separate drug-driving conviction in March 2024.

During the appeal, Fincham’s defence argued the prison sentence was disproportionate and described his actions as a “stupid” oversight. Barrister Richard Cooper highlighted that Fincham had taken significant steps to turn his life around, stating, “He struck rock bottom three years ago… but it is to his credit what he has done to put that right.”

While his sentence was modified, all other original penalties remain. These include a £961 fine, £200 compensation to one of the victims, and £3,680 in total fees, which he will repay in £400 monthly instalments, as he reportedly has “no savings.”

Fincham now faces a crucial period under heightened scrutiny.
