Snow Wall Set to Hit UK

Must read

Brits are bracing for a snow wall stretching 656 miles across the UK before the end of January.

Weather maps show the snow wall will reach from London to just south of John O’Groats. Most of England, Wales, and Scotland will face wintry conditions.

WXCharts predicts snow will originate over Bulgaria and Hungary on January 30. It will sweep across Europe and hit the UK at 6am on January 31. Only Cornwall and Northern Ireland may escape the worst of it.

Temperatures could fall to -5C in rural Scotland, while northern England may drop to -2C. The south of England will face -3C in the Cotswolds, creating icy roads.

By midday, snow will cover northern England and Scotland. Southern regions may see less accumulation, but freezing conditions will still affect travel. Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Glasgow could remain around 0C, and Wales will see temperatures between -2C and freezing.

Northern Ireland will receive mainly rain rather than snow, WXCharts reports. Forecasters warn that wind and pressure shifts could change conditions quickly.

The Met Office highlights that predicting snowfall remains difficult, yet cold weather and snow will likely affect the UK over the next four weeks. They explain a “battle” will occur between Atlantic weather systems moving east and high pressure with colder air pressing west.

The UK will start relatively mild, but colder spells will become more frequent. The snow wall could create travel hazards, especially in rural and exposed areas.

In early February, the Met Office predicts further cold weather with occasional wintry hazards. Later in the month, temperatures may rise closer to average, but unsettled conditions could persist.

Authorities urge Brits to prepare for widespread snow wall conditions. Drivers should plan carefully, dress warmly, and check local travel updates.

The snow wall could test resilience across the UK, but forecasters emphasize it may only last a few days. Still, the potential impact on transport and daily life remains significant.
