Thompson, 30, who has been candid about her ongoing health struggles, said the incident occurred after a promising start to her day with fiancé Ryan Libbey. The couple had ridden his motorbike to a medical appointment at Avenues Life in Marylebone. They shaved 20 minutes off their commute in order to avoid traffic.
“I had a great start to the day,” Thompson wrote on social media.
“I biked with Ryan to my appointment and we even managed time for coffee and cookies at WatchHouse before recording my podcast. I was buzzing with energy after a really tough week of crappy health.”
Moments later, however, Thompson felt something “wet” in her pocket. Looking down, she realized her stoma bag—affectionately nicknamed “Winnie”—had sprung a leak. The Louise Thompson stoma leak added yet another hurdle to her day.
Thompson, who underwent stoma surgery last year after battling ulcerative colitis, said she immediately felt a wave of embarrassment and panic. She rushed to the nearest hospital in an effort to clean up and replace the bag.

She said she hopes her openness will help others facing similar challenges. “If this can encourage even one person to feel less alone about their condition related to stoma leaks like mine, then it’s worth it,” she said.
Thompson’s health struggles first came to public attention when she nearly died during childbirth in 2021. Since then, she has spoken out about ulcerative colitis, stoma surgery, and the emotional toll of chronic illness.
As she continues to juggle motherhood, work, and her own health, Thompson said she remains determined to stay positive. “Some days are harder than others,” she concluded. “But I’m learning to ask for help and to be kind to myself.”
