Noel Gallagher guitars have been central to his sound since the early Oasis days. Even before fame, he relied on an Epiphone Les Paul Standard as his main instrument. When Oasis signed a record deal, he continued to use it, as seen in the 1994 video for their first single, Supersonic.
Later, Noel’s friendship with former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr brought him two gifted Les Pauls. One was a Standard, originally a Goldtop, once owned and smashed by Pete Townshend. The second was a Les Paul Custom, which Noel modified by replacing its humbuckers with P-90 pickups from a Gibson Firebird. In 2023, he joked about discovering years later it had been “The Queen Is Dead guitar.”
In 2025, Noel showcased his Made To Measure Gibson Custom guitar during the Oasis Live ’25 tour. This guitar inspired the Noel Gallagher guitars replica, a £17,500 instrument available to fans. It features dual P-90s, echoing the tone of his modified Marr Les Paul Custom. Many fans compared it to the “Old Black” Les Paul of Neil Young.
Noel’s other iconic instrument, the Epiphone Riviera, also played a significant role. He first bought it with Bonehead during a trip to Johnny Roadhouse Music in Manchester. Both guitars were 1980s Matsumoko models, featuring full-size humbuckers instead of mini-humbuckers. Noel’s Riviera remained stock, while Bonehead’s possibly had Maxon MMK-61 pickups.
The Riviera appeared in the Don’t Look Back In Anger video and during the What’s The Story…? sessions. It later became an Epiphone signature model in 2022. Bonehead continued to use his Riviera during Liam Gallagher’s Definitely Maybe 30th anniversary shows and the 2025 Oasis reunion tour.
Meanwhile, Gem Archer maintained the semi-hollow guitar tradition, playing Noel’s 1960s Epiphone Sheraton in NGHFB and Oasis. This guitar inspired the Epiphone Masterbilt Gem Archer model, featuring a trapeze tailpiece. Fans can now access a recreation of this guitar without spending £7,000.
Overall, Noel Gallagher guitars—from Les Pauls to Epiphones—have defined his tone, stage presence, and legacy in rock history.
