Police have launched a counter-terrorism investigation after suspected arson attacks at two London homes linked to Prime Minister Keir Starmer. This Starmer arson investigation has garnered significant attention. Both incidents occurred within 48 hours and are being treated as suspicious.
In the early hours of Monday, emergency services responded to a fire at Starmer’s private residence in Kentish Town. The fire damaged the entrance of the house, but no injuries were reported. Just over 24 hours earlier, a separate fire broke out at another property in Islington. That building, also connected to Starmer, had been converted into flats. The prime minister has thanked emergency services for their swift action. His official spokesperson declined to confirm who was present in the Kentish Town home during the fire. Starmer currently resides at 10 Downing Street, but still owns the Kentish Town property. It has been rented out since he became prime minister.
A police cordon remains around the Kentish Town scene, where officers were seen searching bins and surrounding areas for evidence. Forensic teams and fire investigators are continuing their work on site.
The Metropolitan Police stated that the decision to involve counter-terrorism officers was precautionary. They cited the link to a high-profile public figure as the reason for their involvement in the Starmer arson investigation.
The Kentish Town home had been previously targeted by protesters. In 2024, three individuals were convicted of public order offences following a pro-Palestinian demonstration outside the same house.
All three fires remain under investigation. Police and fire officials are urging the public to report any suspicious activity in the area.
