Tom Felton Draco will return to the stage for the first time in 14 years. He will reprise his role as Draco Malfoy. The 38-year-old actor is famous for playing the villain in all eight Harry Potter films. He joins the Broadway production of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child at New York’s Lyric Theatre.
In a first look from the show, Felton stands on a table in a dark robe. He points his wand directly at Harry Potter. Fans instantly recognized Draco’s signature platinum blond hair and sneer. Moreover, the theatre confirmed that Felton is the first actor from the original films to return on stage. This also marks his Broadway debut.
Felton described the role as a full-circle moment. He will be the same age as Draco is in the play. This adds a unique personal connection. Felton said it feels surreal to step back into Draco’s shoes. Additionally, he is excited to share Draco’s story with fans again.
The production will run for 26 weeks, ending on May 10, 2026. The cast includes John Skelley as Harry Potter, Trish Lindstrom as Ginny Potter, and Emmet Smith as Albus Potter. Rachel Christopher and Daniel Fredrick play Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Meanwhile, Janae Hammond portrays Rose Granger-Weasley. Felton stars opposite Aidan Close, who plays Draco’s son Scorpius Malfoy.
The play, co-devised by J.K. Rowling, is set 19 years after the last book. Harry works at the Ministry of Magic while waving his youngest son, Albus, off to Hogwarts. The story focuses on Albus struggling with his family legacy. Consequently, he takes extreme steps to fix past wrongs. The two-part play lasts over five hours and explores both new and familiar characters.
Since leaving the films, Felton starred in Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. He also appeared in TV series including Murder In The First, The Flash, and Origin. Furthermore, he voiced characters in Harry Potter video games. He even joined Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson for the 20th Anniversary special Return To Hogwarts.
