Traitors Winner Leanne Quigley Reveals Fiancée’s Heartbreaking Cancer Battle

Traitors star Leanne Quigley has opened up about the most challenging two years of her life, revealing her fiancée Sophie Jones’ battle with aggressive breast cancer.

Leanne, who recently won the hit BBC One reality show alongside Jake Brown, has shared how she and Sophie, both army veterans, navigated this painful journey while raising their two-year-old twins, Hudson and Harley, conceived through IVF.

The couple’s world was turned upside down last year when Sophie, then 32 and in peak health, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.

It all started last May, when Sophie discovered a small lump in her breast while showering. Initially dismissing it as part of her rib structure, she grew concerned when the lump increased in size within two weeks. A visit to her GP led to a hospital referral, where initial tests suggested a benign cyst. However, further examinations revealed a far more serious reality—Sophie had HER2-positive grade 3 breast cancer, an aggressive and fast-growing form of the disease.

She was placed on chemotherapy just a week later, but the two-week wait for CT scan results to determine whether the cancer had spread was the most harrowing period for the couple.

Leanne described the experience as “utterly terrifying”, recalling Sophie’s heartbreaking words: “I don’t want to die, Leanne… I want to see our babies grow up.”

Sophie, reflecting on those agonizing days, added: “It was the fear of the unknown. I didn’t know how bad it was, whether I’d go back for the results and hear, ‘You’ve got six months to live.’”

Despite the trauma, the couple credits their twins for giving them strength through this difficult time.
