Brooklyn Beckham is reportedly “disheartened” after his parents publicly celebrated his birthday on social media, despite their ongoing family feud.
The Brooklyn Beckham birthday posts appeared on Instagram on Wednesday as the star turned 27. His parents, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, shared affectionate tributes to mark the occasion. However, sources claim the public messages upset Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham.
A source told Entertainment Tonight that the couple felt disappointed by the posts. According to the insider, the public tributes represent the type of “performative social media actions” Brooklyn previously criticised.
David Beckham posted two childhood photographs of his son on Instagram. The former England football captain used his long-time nickname for Brooklyn and wrote: “27 today. Happy Birthday Bust. We love you x.”
Minutes later, Victoria Beckham shared the same image along with another photograph showing her laughing with her eldest son. She captioned the post: “Happy birthday Brooklyn, we love you so much.”
Brooklyn’s brothers also joined the online tributes. Romeo Beckham shared a childhood picture of the pair, while Cruz Beckham posted a throwback snap with the message: “I love you.”
The Brooklyn Beckham birthday posts come weeks after the aspiring chef publicly criticised his family. In January, he shared a lengthy statement accusing his parents of controlling media narratives and prioritising their public image over private relationships.
In the statement, Brooklyn claimed that “performative social media posts” and carefully staged family appearances shaped much of his life growing up. He also alleged that his parents interfered in his relationship with Nicola before their 2022 wedding.
The disagreement has increasingly played out in public. Brooklyn has missed several major family events, including celebrations for David Beckham’s 50th birthday and the former footballer’s investiture at Windsor Castle last November.
He also did not appear in Victoria Beckham’s recent Netflix docuseries.
Despite the ongoing tensions, the Brooklyn Beckham birthday posts show that the Beckham family continues to acknowledge him publicly, even as reports suggest relations behind the scenes remain strained.
