Actor Leo Woodall has revealed his initial nerves about working alongside Hollywood icon Renee Zellweger in the upcoming film Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. The romantic comedy, set to release on Valentine’s Day, features Zellweger, 55, reprising her beloved role as Bridget Jones, alongside Woodall, 28, who plays Roxster, a charming park warden and Bridget’s new love interest. The film explores their romance, complete with a steamy on-screen kiss, despite the 27-year age gap.
Recalling his first meeting with Zellweger and director Michael Morris just a week before filming began, Woodall admitted he was overwhelmed. “I was terrified,” he said. “I made the rookie mistake of arriving on a Lime bike after a 25-minute ride on a hot day. I was sweating terribly and downed two pints of water the second I arrived.”
Despite his initial jitters, Zellweger quickly put him at ease with her approachable demeanor. “She’s so iconic. It would be easy for her to have this gravitas or an intimidating aura, but she’s incredibly humble, lovely, and kind,” Woodall shared. “She’s just so goofy and down-to-earth, which cuts through all of that.”
Woodall also praised Zellweger during a recent interview, calling her “one of the best people on the planet” and expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to work with her. “She’s unbelievably kind and warm,” he said.
Fans of the Bridget Jones franchise are eagerly anticipating Zellweger’s return in the fourth installment, which promises a fresh take on Bridget’s love life and adventures.
