She detailed her personal experience of harassment, revealing that dedicated fans—known as “Directioners”—sent violent messages threatening her life, calling for her to be fired, and making cruel comments about her appearance.
Reflecting on these experiences, the journalist expressed concern for McDermott, who recently began dating Tomlinson. Shortly after news of their relationship surfaced, McDermott’s social media became flooded with negative and threatening comments from fans.
One commenter bluntly wrote to McDermott, “Louis has no love for you, don’t hope for nothing!!!” while another said, “Sorry to say but Eleanor was better,” referencing Tomlinson’s previous girlfriend, Eleanor Calder.
These examples represent just a fraction of the harsh and aggressive messages directed at McDermott, with many others deemed too offensive to be published.
