Sammy Root opens up for the first time since his split from fellow reality star Elma Pazar. The 23-year-old Love Island winner broke his silence on heartbreak, fame, and finding meaning beyond the villa.
He spoke candidly about life after Love Island: All Stars, where he re-coupled with Elma earlier this year. The pair had fans rooting for them. However, the romance ended quietly just months later. Until now, neither had explained what went wrong.
Sammy Root opens up in what sources call “emotional” scenes filmed for The Only Way Is Essex. These moments will air later this year on ITV2 and ITVX.
Though he didn’t name Elma, Sammy’s comments hint at unresolved feelings. “I was raised old-fashioned,” he said. “You treat a woman like a princess. That’s just who I am.”
Sammy added, “Sometimes love works out. Sometimes it doesn’t. I’ll always give it my best.”
Despite back-to-back reality shows and a public breakup, Sammy remains optimistic. “Hopefully one day I’ll find that person,” he said with a smile.
He also reflected on his favorite villa moments. Sammy said he loved the challenges, especially the infamous “Snog, Marry, Pie.” “That was my highlight,” he laughed. “I was buzzing for every game.”
Sammy originally appeared on Love Island 2023 as a bombshell. He and Jess Harding won the show but broke up shortly afterward.
He returned in January 2025 for All Stars and reconnected with Elma. Fans saw a more emotional side of him this time.
Now, Sammy runs his own prize giveaway business, The Watch Draws. “We gave away a £25,000 watch recently,” he said. “It’s fun and rewarding.”
Sammy added, “I’ve always loved giving back. This combines charity, excitement, and business.”
On future TV plans, Sammy stays open-minded. “I’d love to try shows like Strictly or SAS. Even I’m A Celeb sounds fun—minus the spiders,” he joked.
Sammy Root opens up not just about heartbreak, but growth, gratitude, and keeping true to who he is.
