Rupert Lowe Cleared in Standards Probe After Crowdfunder Complaint Dismissed

Rupert Lowe cleared in standards probe after Parliament’s watchdog swiftly dismissed a complaint against him. The former Reform UK MP faced scrutiny over donations raised for his independent “Rape Gang Inquiry” but proved he followed all rules.

On Friday, standards commissioner David Greenberg announced an inquiry into whether Lowe failed to register crowdfunded donations. However, by the next day, Greenberg confirmed Rupert Lowe cleared in standards probe, stating no rules were broken.

Lowe received the funds on June 23, giving him 28 days to declare them. Since the deadline was July 21, Greenberg ruled no violation occurred. The MP quickly provided bank records proving compliance.

Reacting on X, Lowe called the complaint “a malicious attempt to shut me down.” He criticized the a news channel for reporting the investigation before its resolution. He also plans to file a formal complaint against the broadcaster.

Meanwhile, the Rape Gang Inquiry team says all donations are properly under track. They emphasized full transparency once the inquiry concludes.

Lowe’s campaign, launched in March, has raised over £600,000. Most donations were small, but at least a dozen exceeded £1,500—the threshold requiring parliamentary declaration.

Despite the government announcing its own grooming gangs inquiry, Lowe insists his work will continue. His team has already sent hundreds of FOI requests to councils and police forces.

Lowe, elected as a Reform MP in 2024, was suspended in March over alleged threats toward party chairman Zia Yusuf. Prosecutors later dropped the case, with Lowe calling it a “political assassination attempt.”

Now sitting as an independent, Lowe has gained support from Tory MP Esther McVey. His inquiry promises public hearings and accountability for victims. With Rupert Lowe cleared in standards probe, the focus shifts back to his campaign’s mission—exposing the truth about grooming gangs.
