Full Force of the Law to Hit Palestine Action Supporters, Warns UK Minister

Must read

The UK government has vowed to apply the full force of the law against anyone supporting the proscribed group Palestine Action. Justice Minister Alex Davies-Jones issued the warning following a major London protest that saw over 500 arrests. Davies-Jones defended the ban, calling Palestine Action a terrorist group. She praised police for their bravery during weekend clashes. “Peaceful protest is vital, but this group’s actions are not peaceful,” she said.

The minister cited attacks on RAF jets and Jewish businesses as reasons for the ban. National security concerns also played a role, though details remain classified. “Supporters will feel the full force of the law,” she stressed. Over 500 people were detained during Saturday’s demonstration. Nearly 70% were aged 50 or above, according to official figures. Protesters condemned the Terrorism Act designation, calling it an attack on free speech.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper banned Palestine Action last month after activists caused £7m in damage to military equipment. Supporting the group now carries a 14-year prison sentence. Palestine Action won High Court approval to appeal the ban on July 30. Critics argue the move stifles dissent and continues Britain’s civil liberties decline.

Meanwhile, Reform UK holds a press conference at 11am. The PM’s spokesperson will also face questions about UK involvement in Trump-Putin Ukraine talks. Opposition leader Kemi Badenoch visits East Anglia to discuss asylum hotel concerns later today. The government insists the full force of the law is necessary to combat extremism. But debate rages over where legitimate protest ends and criminality begins.
