Sam Ryder album Heartland marks the start of a bold new chapter for the British singer-songwriter. The 36-year-old musician, who delivered the UK’s best Eurovision result this century, has released his second studio album and announced a major London concert.
Ryder first rose to fame at Eurovision 2022 with his soaring anthem SPACE MAN. His debut record, There’s Nothing But Space, Man!, reached number one on the UK charts and earned him widespread recognition. He went on to perform at the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, receive an Emmy nomination, and become the first Eurovision act nominated for a Brit Award for Best New Artist.
However, after completing a successful 14-date tour, Ryder’s journey took a surprising turn. His record label, Parlophone, dismissed the team he had worked closely with. Rather than continue under new management, he decided to part ways with the label.
In search of inspiration, Ryder relocated to Nashville, Tennessee — a move that deeply influenced his creative process. He described the city as the “spiritual home of country music,” and its energy shaped the sound and emotion of his new LP.
The Sam Ryder album features heartfelt songwriting, blending soul, rock, and Americana influences. At least half of the tracks, including “Better Man” and “Electric Marine Blue,” were written as tributes to his partner, Lois Gaskin-Barber. The project was released through the independent label Artist Theory, reuniting Ryder with former Parlophone executives.
To celebrate the album, Ryder will headline London’s OVO Arena Wembley on November 6. Fans can expect a mix of new material and the hits that made him one of Britain’s most distinctive voices.
Before his Eurovision breakthrough, Ryder had already spent years performing and writing music. His career transformed during the 2020 lockdown when his soulful covers went viral on TikTok, making him the platform’s most popular UK artist that year.
His Eurovision performance of SPACE MAN earned 466 points, placing second and breaking a decades-long drought for the United Kingdom. That moment not only redefined his career but also restored national pride in the contest.
With Heartland, the Sam Ryder album symbolizes artistic freedom, resilience, and creative renewal. It captures the evolution of an artist unafraid to start over and redefine success on his own terms.
