Gaza Planning Team: UK Officers Join US-Led Post-Conflict Effort

Must read

A small Gaza planning team from the United Kingdom has joined a global mission in Israel. The move shows Britain’s promise to help build peace and recovery in Gaza after months of conflict.

Defence Minister Al Carns said that several British officers had arrived in Israel. He added that a two-star deputy commander leads the group as part of a US-led Civil Military Coordination Centre, known as the CMCC. This hub helps allied nations plan and work together on the next steps for Gaza’s future.

In addition, Carns made it clear that the British team will not watch the ceasefire directly. Instead, the officers will plan and advise on how to keep peace and support aid in the region.

The United States Central Command, or Centcom, runs the CMCC. The group includes members from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. Together, they hope to plan how Gaza can recover safely and fairly.

British officers will stay in Israel while they do their work. They will focus on planning and teamwork rather than joining military or peacekeeping missions. This decision, officials said, helps reduce risks and keeps the effort focused on aid and recovery.

The Gaza planning team will work on rebuilding roads, homes, and key services. They will also help local leaders shape safer systems for health and education. The goal is to support Gaza’s people while avoiding further conflict.

The mission began soon after Israel agreed to the first phase of a ceasefire deal with Hamas. That deal allowed the release of several hostages and prisoners. The United States also sent around 200 troops already in the Middle East to support the growing CMCC effort.

Defence experts say the UK wants to play a key role in how Gaza rebuilds. Because of this, British planners will use their experience in logistics and aid to support the wider mission.

Moreover, Carns said the UK’s goal is peace through teamwork, not control. He explained that Britain will keep working with its allies to bring lasting calm and growth to Gaza.

Through the Gaza planning team, the UK hopes to help create a safe, fair, and peaceful future for Gaza and its people.
