Raye album update brings relief for fans as the singer finally recovered her stolen songbooks from last year. Thieves broke into her car on her birthday, forcing her to pause work on the follow-up to her multi-Brit Award-winning debut, My 21st Century Blues.
The singer shared the theft online at the time, posting a photo of a birthday cake that read, “sorry ur car got stolen.” She explained the break-in meant “no second album any time soon.”
Earlier this month, she released a new pop-funk single, Where Is My Husband?, and performed it during halftime at an NFL match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Raye told BBC’s Mark Savage about her five-year plan, aiming to release an album in the first half of next year. She also plans to tour with her sisters and hopes to meet her future husband by 2027. The singer wants to start a family without pausing her career.
In a Capital Radio interview, Raye revealed that the police had returned her car months ago. She confirmed that all her songwriting books remained untouched. She will likely use the recovered material on her upcoming, untitled album.
The singer emphasized that she is still finishing the album. She compared the process to completing school homework at the last minute and said she wants the final product to be “incredible” and her best work yet.
Raye first rose to fame with Escapism. She also collaborated on top 10 hits such as Bed, Prada, and Secrets. Her music blends pop, R&B, soul, jazz, dance, and hip-hop, which she showcased during her Glastonbury performance this summer.
Last year, Raye made history at the Brit Awards, winning six of seven nominations. Previously, her label delayed her debut for years, prompting her to request release from her contract. She achieved solo success after Escapism went viral.
Raye will tour Europe in early 2026 on the This Tour May Contain New Music tour. The UK leg begins in February, where she will perform new tracks inspired by her recovered songbooks.
