Sex Pistols Tour Announces 2026 UK Shows

The Sex Pistols tour featuring Frank Carter will celebrate its 50th anniversary with UK shows in summer 2026. Fans can anticipate a series of headline gigs honoring the band’s legendary performances at Manchester’s Lesser Free Trade Hall in 1976. That first show inspired future bands including Joy Division, The Smiths, and The Fall. Consequently, the tour promises both nostalgia and fresh energy.

Frank Carter joins longtime members Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock for the current lineup. Original singer John Lydon last performed with the band in 2008. Matlock praised Carter’s energy, noting that he connects with fans in a way few others could. “He’s a class act and brings incredible vitality to the stage,” Matlock said.

The 2026 UK tour includes headline shows at The Piece Hall in Halifax, Castlefield Bowl in Manchester, Cardiff Castle, and Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Additionally, festival appearances include the Isle of Wight Festival in June, along with European dates at Nova Rock in Austria and Hills of Rock in Bulgaria. The Undertones will support the headline shows, joined by John Cooper Clarke in Manchester and The Stranglers in Cardiff and Scarborough.

Previously, the band had planned North and South American tours but postponed after Jones broke his wrist. Despite setbacks, the group has been discussing new material. Matlock confirmed that ideas are in development with Carter. “Frank is a fantastic lyricist, and we have concepts ready, though schedules are busy,” he said.

Jones explained that Carter was the first singer they tried when reforming the band in 2024. “It just clicked immediately, and we all wanted to play again,” he recalled. However, he added that performing new material live can be tricky. “If you play new songs, audiences sometimes grab a drink instead,” he joked.

Matlock also reflected on how new music could influence the band’s legacy. “We have to ask if the public wants it. Ultimately, only time will tell,” he said. Nonetheless, the 2026 Sex Pistols tour promises high-energy performances, a celebration of punk culture, and a historic milestone for fans across the UK.

Overall, the Sex Pistols tour combines legendary history with a dynamic present, offering audiences a chance to relive iconic moments and witness fresh interpretations.
