Leona Lewis Music career has found new purpose since she became a mother. The 40-year-old singer felt disconnected from her work for many years.
She had not released a full album since 2015’s I Am, focusing instead on Christmas songs. However, motherhood changed her outlook.
Since welcoming her daughter, Carmel Allegra, three, with husband Dennis Jauch in July 2022, Leona has felt inspired to create music again.
She told Wired, “I started getting into the studio last year. I have been working on music and figuring out what I want to say.”
Leona explained she wants to sing intentionally and avoid contributing to noise in the industry. She hopes to create music that feels authentic and personal.
She added, “How do I want to be intentional and not add to the noise, but hopefully just bring something authentic and very me?”
Motherhood has given her a fresh perspective and a renewed sense of purpose. Leona now approaches music with openness and clarity.
The X Factor 2006 winner continues to explore her sound, aiming to reconnect with fans in a meaningful way. Transitioning back into the studio has motivated her to focus on authenticity above all.
