Iran Embassy Protest Turns Violent in London

An Iran embassy protest in London turned violent on Friday night, injuring four people and prompting 14 arrests.

Emergency services rushed to South Kensington around 8.45pm GMT, where demonstrators clashed outside the Iranian embassy.

The London Ambulance Service took four injured people to hospital and treated two others at the scene.

Meanwhile, social media footage showed protesters being detained and others sustaining injuries during the confrontation.

The Metropolitan Police reported that officers suffered injuries after demonstrators threw objects at them.

Several police officers needed medical attention as they tried to restore order while facing resistance.

On Saturday, a Met Police spokesperson confirmed that officers arrested 14 people for violent disorder linked to the protest.

During the demonstration, one protester climbed across balconies onto the embassy roof and removed a flag.

Police detained the individual, noting that the act mirrored a similar flag removal incident last week.

Authorities deployed additional officers earlier to prevent disorder and protect the Iranian embassy.

The violent protest followed global demonstrations in which opponents and supporters of Iran’s government gathered outside embassies.

Earlier this week, the UK summoned the Iranian ambassador to the FCDO after nationwide protests erupted in Iran.

Protesters in Iran staged the largest demonstrations seen in years, driven by economic grievances and widespread dissatisfaction.

Monitoring groups report that these protests have challenged Iran’s theocratic system and caused thousands of deaths.

On Saturday, the US-based HRANA organization reported that Iran’s death toll had reached 3,090.

The Met Police continue to patrol the area closely and advised the public to avoid South Kensington during unrest.

Authorities warned that police could arrest additional demonstrators if they return or escalate violence near the embassy.

The Iran embassy protest highlights how international political tensions can quickly spill onto UK streets.

Police and emergency services remain on high alert as London prepares for possible further demonstrations this weekend.
