The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their Sundance Film Festival debut in Park City, Utah, this past weekend.
They attended a special screening and celebration for the new documentary Cookie Queens. The couple served as executive producers on the project.
The film follows four young Girl Scouts as they navigate the competitive cookie-selling season. It reportedly holds personal meaning for the Sussexes, as Prince Harry was a Girl Scout in his youth.
On Saturday, the couple posed for photographs with attendees, including Amy Redford, daughter of actor and festival founder Robert Redford. Their presence drew significant media attention.
The following day, the Duke and Duchess returned for the documentary’s official premiere. During the event, Meghan Markle delivered remarks from the podium.
“My husband and I at Archewell Productions are so proud and privileged to be able to support and uplift Cookie Queens,” she said.
She added, “This film is probably the cutest at the festival, but it is also one of the most powerful and meaningful depictions of an American tradition rooted in nostalgia.”
The Duke and Duchess founded Archewell Productions in 2020. Since then, the company has maintained an ongoing partnership with Netflix.
The production house also created the couple’s 2022 documentary series, Harry and Meghan, which explored their lives and public challenges.
Last year, Archewell released Meghan’s lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, further cementing the company’s presence in media production.
Observers noted that the Sussex Sundance debut reflected both the couple’s growing role in entertainment and their ongoing advocacy for youth-centered projects.
Festival attendees praised the documentary for highlighting ambition, perseverance, and teamwork among young Girl Scouts.
The Sussexes’ involvement brought additional attention to the documentary, showcasing their continued interest in projects rooted in social impact and personal connection.
Through Cookie Queens, the Duke and Duchess aim to inspire a younger generation while also honoring a nostalgic American tradition.
Overall, the Sussex Sundance debut combined glitz, philanthropy, and meaningful storytelling, leaving a lasting impression at the festival.
