Police have made a new arrest in the ongoing investigation linked to convicted nurse Lucy Letby. Officers carried out a search at a property on Wednesday before detaining one individual.
Cheshire Constabulary confirmed that officers arrested the person on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. They later released the suspect on bail while inquiries continue. Meanwhile, investigators continue to examine evidence gathered during the raid.
Lucy Letby, aged 36, currently serves 15 whole-life orders after her convictions for murdering seven babies and attempting to murder seven others. She carried out the crimes while working on the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital between 2015 and 2016.
Police continue to expand their wider investigation into hospital-related deaths and potential corporate failings. In addition, they run Operation Duet, which focuses on possible corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter at the hospital. Therefore, officers maintain several active lines of inquiry.
