Epstein files have prompted a new police investigation into historical abuse allegations in the UK. The Epstein files contain claims that investigators are now reviewing as part of two separate inquiries. The Epstein files have renewed public attention around allegations linked to Jeffrey Epstein’s UK connections.
Jeffrey Epstein remains at the centre of renewed scrutiny after UK police confirmed they are reviewing allegations found in recently released documents. Surrey Police said detectives are investigating two separate reports of non-recent child sexual abuse.
One investigation focuses on alleged incidents in Surrey and Berkshire between the mid-1990s and 2000. Another inquiry examines claims linked to West Surrey during the mid to late 1980s. Officers have interviewed alleged victims as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police confirmed that they have not made any arrests. Detectives have also not brought any charges at this stage. Authorities said specialist teams continue to examine possible evidence and follow reasonable lines of inquiry.
The latest development follows the release of millions of pages of US documents related to Epstein. Those files included partially redacted witness statements and allegations involving locations in the UK. Several British police forces have since reviewed references linked to their jurisdictions.
One document reportedly described claims involving alleged abuse near Virginia Water during the 1990s. The complainant alleged that adults took them to gatherings described as a “paedophile ring.” The same account also included claims of physical assault and trafficking.
Police have not confirmed whether that specific testimony forms part of the current investigations. However, Surrey Police said both inquiries relate to allegations contained within the released files.
The alleged victims spoke to specialist detectives during recent interviews. Officers said they take all reports of sexual offences seriously. Investigators continue to seek corroborating evidence wherever possible.
The files also renewed attention on Epstein’s known links to Britain. His former associate Ghislaine Maxwell remains imprisoned in the United States after her conviction in 2022. She received a 20-year sentence for helping Epstein abuse underage girls.
Epstein died in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His death did not end investigations into allegations linked to his network.
Surrey Police urged anyone with relevant information to come forward. Officers said the investigation remains active and sensitive. Authorities have not released further details while inquiries continue.
