Russia Warns UK Over British Drones Used by Ukraine

British drones used by Ukraine in strikes against targets inside Russia have triggered a fresh warning from Moscow.

Russia accused the UK of deliberately escalating the conflict after reports confirmed the use of British-made equipment. Moscow also warned that Britain would face consequences for its support. The Russian Embassy in London described the UK as an accomplice in what it called attacks against Russia. It also warned that greater British involvement could bring a higher cost.

However, Britain rejected Moscow’s criticism and reaffirmed its support for Ukraine. A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said the UK remained firmly behind Kyiv. The spokesperson also stressed Britain’s commitment to supplying equipment for Ukraine’s defence. London continues to describe Russia’s invasion as illegal.

The latest dispute follows another intense exchange of drone attacks between Russia and Ukraine. Both sides reported major strikes during the latest overnight fighting. According to Russian officials, hundreds of drones targeted areas around Moscow. Russian air defences reportedly destroyed more than 180 of those drones.

Several people suffered injuries during the attacks, according to local authorities. A Wildberries logistics facility near Moscow also sustained damage. Regional governor Andrey Vorobyov said a fire broke out at the facility. Emergency crews later extinguished the blaze.

Wildberries described the damage to its logistics complex as minor. However, the company has faced repeated Ukrainian attacks during the conflict. Ukraine has targeted several major logistics facilities linked to the retailer. Ukrainian officials claim that seven of its ten largest centres have suffered disruption.

Meanwhile, British-made drones have reportedly played a role in attacks against Russian military and industrial targets. Those targets have included refineries, warehouses, and other strategic facilities. A military source confirmed that UK-made drones took part in some operations. Reports also suggested the attacks have caused substantial economic damage.

Russian officials have separately accused Ukraine of using drones containing British components. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made similar claims about previous attacks. She specifically referred to a fuel depot in Russia’s Rostov region. Moscow has repeatedly criticised Western countries for providing weapons to Ukraine.

Britain, however, maintains that Ukraine has the right to defend itself. The government has continued increasing military assistance throughout the conflict. In April, the UK announced a major new package for Ukraine. The package included tens of thousands of drones and long-range strike equipment.

The government described the package as its largest drone commitment for Ukraine. The move demonstrated London’s continued focus on expanding Kyiv’s battlefield capabilities. At the same time, Russia has intensified its own attacks across Ukraine. Ukrainian authorities reported casualties following strikes in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Regional officials said at least two people died and four others suffered injuries. They also reported extensive Russian attacks across dozens of settlements. The latest violence follows another major wave of overnight attacks. Ukraine reportedly launched hundreds of drones toward Russian territory during an earlier operation.

Russian authorities described that assault as one of the largest attacks on Moscow in recent memory. Several deaths were reported across Russia following the strikes. Russian attacks also caused significant casualties in Ukraine during the same period. At least seven people reportedly died, while dozens more suffered injuries.

As a result, tensions between Moscow and London continue to grow. Russia’s latest warning reflects its increasing criticism of Western military assistance. Nevertheless, Britain shows no indication that it plans to reduce its support for Kyiv. Instead, officials continue to emphasise Ukraine’s need for military equipment.

The dispute over British drones therefore adds another layer to the wider conflict. It also highlights the growing reach of weapons supplied by Ukraine’s Western allies. For now, neither side has indicated that its position will change. Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine continue exchanging large-scale attacks as the war enters another dangerous phase.
