Robert Pattinson has admitted that filming action scenes for the next Batman movie feels much harder at 40.
The British actor has returned to London to film the highly anticipated sequel to 2022’s The Batman. The movie will arrive in cinemas in 2028.
Pattinson first played Bruce Wayne and his superhero alter ego in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Now, he has returned to the role for another demanding production.
However, the actor says his age has changed how he approaches the physical side of the role.
“I’m definitely feeling my age when fighting a lot,” Pattinson told GQ. “I’m literally like, ‘Goddamn, this is significantly harder than it used to be.’”
Despite the physical demands, Pattinson remains enthusiastic about the project. He described the production as a “marathon” but said he expects fans to enjoy the finished film.
“It’s really fun,” he said. “And I think the movie’s going to be pretty great.” Meanwhile, Pattinson has also embraced a detail that helps him step into Bruce Wayne’s world. The actor wears a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch as part of his character’s look.
Pattinson explained that he became interested in the brand after visiting its London store. He later discovered that Christian Bale, who previously played Batman, had also worn the brand.
“When you put the Reverso on, it definitely has a Bruce Wayne feel,” Pattinson said.
The actor has also faced an intense work schedule in recent years. Since the Hollywood actors’ and writers’ strikes ended, he has moved from one production to another.
He described the period as a “cascade” of projects after deciding to focus on films that genuinely interested him.
Pattinson has worked on several major productions, including Die, My Love, The Drama and Primetime. He also appears in upcoming projects such as The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three.
“I just changed my mindset,” he explained. “I don’t care about doing big movies or leads. I’m just going to do stuff I find interesting.”
However, the packed schedule has taken its toll. Pattinson now hopes to take a break after completing The Batman sequel.
For now, he remains focused on bringing Bruce Wayne back to the big screen. Despite the tougher action scenes, Pattinson says he continues to enjoy the challenge and remains excited about the next chapter of the Batman story.
