Gladiator Star Steel Welcomes Son Born at 23 Weeks: “Tiny, Fragile and Fighting”

Gladiator star Steel, real name Zack George, has shared the emotional news that his second child has been born prematurely at just 23 weeks. The 34-year-old TV personality took to social media to update fans on the arrival of his newborn son, Leo George, who is currently fighting for survival in hospital.

Zack posted a touching image of his wife, Samantha, gently cradling their baby boy. In the photo, Samantha is seen in a hospital gown, holding Leo, who is wearing a tiny knitted blue hat. The couple’s second child, born on 26 March 2025, weighed just 1 pound 8 ounces at birth.

“Our Precious Boy Leo George,” Zack wrote in the emotional post. “You should still be tucked up inside mummy’s tummy but instead you entered the world… at just 23 weeks. You never truly know how quickly your life can be turned upside down, but one thing we do know is that you are one hell of a strong boy and you are already defying the odds.”

He concluded the message with a heartfelt tribute to his son’s strength: “Tiny, fragile and fighting.”

Zack and Samantha are already parents to a daughter named Ivy, who helped share the news of the pregnancy earlier this year by proudly holding up ultrasound images with the caption, “Ivy is very excited to have a new friend very soon! Little George number 2 in the making!”

Before rising to fame as Steel on the reboot of the Gladiators gameshow, Zack was a dedicated fitness enthusiast and CrossFit competitor. While his muscular physique has become his trademark, he has often spoken about the personal journey behind his transformation.

Fans and well-wishers have flooded the couple with messages of support and hope as baby Leo continues to grow stronger each day.
