TV presenter Lisa Snowdon has revealed that marriage is currently “not on the cards” for her and fiancé George Smart, despite being engaged for eight years. Speaking at The Smiley Charity Film Awards in London, the former model shared insight into why the couple hasn’t yet walked down the aisle.
Lisa dazzled at the event in a striking red dress with bow detailing, as she hosted the awards ceremony honouring powerful films made by charities to highlight important social issues. The star-studded evening saw appearances from celebrities such as Una Healy, Jeff Brazier, Anton Ferdinand, and AJ Pritchard, all co-presenting segments to celebrate the impact of film in driving positive change.
While Lisa has long expressed her love and appreciation for George—whom she first met over two decades ago during her time at MTV—she admitted that they remain undecided about tying the knot. The couple got engaged in 2017 after reconnecting years later, and though deeply committed, they’ve yet to make wedding plans.
“We speak about it all the time, but then we go, ‘nah,’” Lisa explained. “Then we said we’d put it off until next year. We think, ‘should we run away together? Shall we do something big? Should we do something small?’ And then other things come up. You know what it’s like. Life gets in the way, so it’s not on the plan. It’s not on the cards.”
When asked if she had any reservations about marriage, Lisa candidly reflected, “It does a tiny bit for me. Deep down, I do know it wouldn’t [change things], but then I think, ‘Well, my mum and dad’s marriage didn’t last,’ and some people say, ‘Don’t do it because it changes things.’”
Still, her love for George is unwavering. “I want to be with George for the rest of my life, and whether that is the way we are now or whether that’s with a certificate, I just know I’m going to be with him,” she said. “I just want to be with him forever. So however that looks like.”
