A third suspect has been charged in the investigation into a series of arson attacks targeting properties linked to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, now termed as the Starmer arson case.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest of Petro Pochynok, a 34-year-old Ukrainian national from north London, in connection with the Starmer arson case. He faces charges of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.
This development follows earlier charges against Roman Lavrynovych and Stanislav Carpiuc. All three men are accused of involvement in fires that affected multiple locations tied to the prime minister in the ongoing Starmer arson case.
Police said the charges stem from three separate incidents. One fire occurred at a property where Starmer previously lived in north-west London. Another involved a vehicle blaze in Kentish Town. The most serious incident was a fire at the prime minister’s current private residence on the same street.
Pochynok is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later today. Authorities have not released further details about his role in the Starmer arson case.
The Met’s investigation remains active, with officers continuing to explore any political motives behind the attacks. Detectives are also working to establish whether the suspects acted alone or as part of a wider network.
No injuries have been reported from the incidents, but police emphasized the potential danger involved. Arson with intent to endanger life carries severe legal consequences due to its threat to public safety.
Security has been heightened around locations connected to government officials. The incidents have raised concerns about the safety of high-profile political figures and their families.
This case is among several recent threats faced by public leaders in the UK. Officials say it highlights the importance of robust protection measures and swift legal action.
As the investigation of the Starmer arson case progresses, police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Updates on the case will follow pending court proceedings.
