Zelensky UK support took center stage on Monday as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Britain for its continued backing during Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian leader met King Charles III at Windsor Castle following high-level discussions with European allies in London. During the private meeting, Zelensky expressed gratitude for what he described as the UK’s “ironclad” support.
Afterward, Zelensky shared a photograph from the meeting and thanked both the King and the British public for their continued solidarity. Furthermore, he revealed plans to invite Charles to Ukraine for an official state visit in the future.
The royal meeting followed talks between Zelensky and several key European leaders. On Sunday, he met UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in London.
Following those discussions, the four leaders issued a joint statement supporting efforts to secure a lasting peace agreement. They also reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine and called for an immediate ceasefire.
Zelensky UK support remains a key part of Kyiv’s diplomatic strategy. Therefore, the Ukrainian president continues to strengthen ties with Britain and other European allies as the conflict enters its fifth year.
The joint statement also condemned Russia’s ongoing missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities. In addition, the leaders stressed that any future settlement must deliver a fair and lasting peace.
Meanwhile, Zelensky addressed the recent decision by several councils led by Reform UK to remove Ukrainian flags from public buildings. He said he hoped local authorities would reverse the move.
Although he avoided direct involvement in British politics, Zelensky warned that small actions can sometimes affect important international relationships. Consequently, he emphasized the value of maintaining strong friendships between nations during difficult times.
A Reform UK spokesperson defended the policy, arguing that public buildings should display only domestic flags. However, the debate has sparked discussion about symbolic support for Ukraine across Britain.
Zelensky UK support has strengthened significantly since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022. Britain remains one of Ukraine’s closest allies and continues to provide military, financial, and diplomatic assistance.
Additionally, the UK and France lead the so-called “coalition of the willing,” which aims to provide security guarantees for Ukraine as part of any future peace agreement.
