Singer Cheryl Tweedy has made her first public appearance since enduring a distressing stalker ordeal and the heartbreaking funeral of her former partner Liam Payne.
The 40-year-old Girls Aloud star was seen leaving Le Petit Chef, a luxurious dining theatre in London, accompanied by her mother Joan and a friend. Cheryl appeared in good spirits, warmly wrapped in a lilac wool coat, as the trio enjoyed an immersive dinner experience.
Cheryl’s outing comes shortly after her stalker, Daniel Bannister, a convicted killer, was jailed. Bannister, 50, had repeatedly visited Cheryl’s Buckinghamshire mansion, causing her intense fear for her safety and that of her seven-year-old son, Bear.
Bannister’s harassment began just weeks after the tragic death and funeral of Cheryl’s ex-boyfriend and Bear’s father, Liam Payne. His campaign of intimidation was described by the court as “fixated, obsessive, unwanted and repetitive.”
At Wycombe Magistrates’ Court, Bannister received a 16-week prison sentence for breaching a restraining order. During sentencing, District Judge Arvind Sharma acknowledged Cheryl’s distress, noting Bannister was fully aware of the singer’s anxiety and fear.
In a statement, Cheryl revealed how she panicked upon seeing Bannister on her doorbell camera in December. She immediately contacted a friend caring for Bear, instructing them to keep him away from the house. “I feared for my safety immediately, and I feared for my child’s safety,” Cheryl explained.
