A spokesperson for Prince Harry has strongly rejected allegations from a new biography that claims his wife, Meghan Markle, “brainwashed” him.
The claims appear in a book written by royal biographer Tom Bower. Extracts from the biography were recently published in The Times.
According to the book, Queen Camilla allegedly told a friend that Meghan had influenced Harry heavily. The author claims she described the situation by saying Meghan had “brainwashed Harry.” However, Harry’s spokesperson dismissed the allegations. The representative described the claims as a “deranged conspiracy.”
In a statement, the spokesperson also criticized the author’s work. They said Bower’s commentary had “crossed the line from criticism into fixation.” The statement added that readers looking for facts should seek information elsewhere. Meanwhile, it suggested those searching for “melodrama” would find it in the biography.
The book also explores tensions between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and other members of the royal family. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their official royal duties in 2020. Soon afterward, they moved to California.
Since then, their relationship with the British royal family has remained strained. According to Bower’s book, the conflict began soon after the couple’s highly publicized 2018 wedding.
The author also claims that Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales worried about Meghan’s influence on Harry. The biography alleges that some family members viewed her as a potential threat to royal stability. Furthermore, the book references the scandal surrounding Prince Andrew. Andrew lost his royal and military titles following controversy linked to Jeffrey Epstein.
According to the biography, Harry reportedly feared his brother might “banish” him in a similar way. However, Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the claims about King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Representatives for Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales also did not immediately respond to the allegations.
